Canvas Cage Bed Rack Installation Instructions

Canvas Cage Bed Rack Installation Instructions

Thank you for purchasing our rack system!

What's Included

  • 2 Bed Rails and necessary ¼" threaded nut plates
  • 6 Uprights
  • 3 Top Channels (2 with logo, 1 without)
  • 2 Accessory Panels
  • 4 Tent Bars
  • All hardware needed to assemble

Tools You'll Need

  • ¼" or 3/8" drive ratchet (¼" works best due to size)
  • ½" socket
  • ½" wrench
  • 9/16" socket for the Softopper clamps

No drilling or modifications required. All bolts are 5/16" x 1" x 18 thread. Torque: 13 ft lbs. Use a washer on both the bolt side and nut side. Leave all bolts loose until everything is in place.

Installation Steps

  1. Park the truck on a level surface.
  2. If the Softopper is on, loosen and remove the Softopper clamps on one side.
  3. Locate the front/flat end of the bed rails.
  4. With the flat edge facing forward, slide the first bed rail under the passenger side Softopper 1" bar and let it sit.
  5. With the flat edge facing forward, slide the second bed rail under the driver side Softopper 1" bar and let it sit.
  6. Pop the end plate off the factory accessory track (push in and back).
  7. Slide the nut plates into the track to match up with the slots in the bed rail mounts.
  8. Put the bolts in and leave them loose. Do not tighten the Softopper clamps yet.
  9. Install all six uprights on the bed rail saddles. You can unsnap the Softopper snaps at this point for more room — do not tighten any bolts yet.
  10. Install the top channels. Logos face out; the middle top channel has no logo.
  11. Install the tent bars using top or bottom holes as needed. The hole pattern is different from end to end — if your tent doesn't line up, flip the tent bar around.
  12. Install the accessory panels on the sides where the hole patterns line up. Add as many as needed to fit your gear.
  13. Once everything is finger tight, snug up all bolts except the bed rail mounts. Adjust the rack forward or rearward (¼" to ½" at a time) to align with the Softopper. Keep the Softopper clamp close to the tension strap clip on the Softopper rail.
  14. Once positioned correctly, tighten all bolts to 13 ft lbs. Do not over-tighten. Apply Loctite to the bed rail clamp bolts.
