Toyota Tacoma Console Molle Panel Instructions
2016–2020 Tacoma Console
What's Included (per panel)
- 4 Button head Allen bolts
- 4 Nylock nuts
- 4 Washers
- 4 Spacers
Tools Needed
- Drill motor
- ¼" drill bit or step drill
- Sharpie pen or silver pencil
- 5/32" Allen wrench
- 7/16" open end or box end wrench
Installation Steps
- Mark your holes: Use the Molle panel as a template and mark the console with a Sharpie. The panels are a close fit — check twice before drilling. The console is slightly different on each side.
-
Hardware order (outside to inside):
Allen bolt → Molle panel → Spacer → Tacoma console → Flat washer → Nylock nut
Option A: Installing Without Removing the Console
You can attach the panels without removing the console, but the top middle bolt may be difficult to access. Small hands help here.
Option B: Removing the Console (Easier Access)
- In the center of the console, reach down and pull up on the sides.
- Push down on the chrome collar on the shifter. On a 6-speed manual, unscrew the shift knob.
- Once pushed down, turn counter-clockwise and remove the shift knob.
- Reach down and pull up on the front of the console.
- Lift slowly — you need to disconnect a wire connector before fully removing it.
- Unplug the wire connector.
- Pick up the console and rotate it out of the way. The e-brake cover will limit movement but you don't need to fully remove it.
- Now you can easily access the back side to tighten the Molle panel nuts. Go easy — don't overtighten.
- Reverse the steps to reinstall the console. Don't forget to reconnect the wire connector.
